James 4:7-10

So humble yourselves before God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come close to God, and God will come close to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.  Let there be tears for what you have done.  Let there be sorrow and deep grief.  Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

2. Commit your life to him and his control.

Matthew 6:25-27

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life–whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear.  Isn’t life more than food and your body more than clothing.  Look at the birds.  They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly father feeds them.  And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are.  Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”
